Getting in the Spirit

I found this in the neighborhood when I was taking a walk one night with Abby. There were six altogether. What???? You can't see the other three????

Words to the Wise

One of my dearest friends, Tom, and I play five games of Scrabble every Wednesday night. Tom is a higher rated player than I but always enjoy the challenge. It doesn't happen very often but sometimes we each win two games and then it's a real rubber match. Tonight was one of those nights. And tonight I was on fire. I played FOUR bingos in this game - detains, trawled, elastics, and lingerer. At another point I had "relying" on my rack but I didn't have a place to put it down. Four bingos and Tom still won this game 388 to 363. Winning the game wasn't all he did. He also left me with a bingo on my rack when he played his last tile. Can anyone find the 7-letter word? It's very common. And for those of you who are wondering...there isn't a phony word on this board!

Wind Therapy

This past weekend I went home with Cindy to Oneonta. We went to the OHS 35th high school reunion even though I didn't graduate from OHS. I would have if we hadn't moved so it was nice to see a lot of people I haven't seen in years. One of the events this weekend was a motorcyle run to promote motorcyle safety. It was organized by a childhood friend's wife to honor her son who was killed last year in a motorcyle accident. This was my ride and it was a great one.

I was so lucky that the owner of this bike didn't mind a passenger. We rode through northern Otsego County (which included Cooperstown and Otsego Lake) for at least two hours. I was in heaven. The hills were alive with color and it was an unbelievably gorgeous day. The owner of the bike told Cindy and me all about wind therapy. I lifted the shield on my helmet and let it all in. It was intoxicating, I swear...
