It was a reunion, of sorts. Four people from Oneonta who all met for the evening at Eric and Jayne's. There was me, Cindy, Dave, and Eric. Four kids who grew up in Oneonta and haven't seen each other (well, some of us) for quite some time. Dave is the only one who doesn't live in Florida. He flew in from MN. But the evening got more interesting when we discovered that Carl, Dave's wife, and Jayne are all from Long Island. This is a picture taken on the lanai at Eric and Jayne's. That's Carl, Eric, Cindy, and Jayne in the picture. Jayne and Eric live in Tarpon Springs which is on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida.
This is Katie and Tom. They are Eric and Jayne's children. Katie is graduating from high school next month and Tom is entering 8th grade in the fall. Below you will also see Carl getting a little animated (as Italians have a tendency to do and don't I know!) while he, Jayne, and Suzanne discuss the 5 burroughs of NYC and their boundaries. Those are Dave's hand mimicking Carl's! And that was just Friday night...
Saturday evening started with a seafood festival in New Port Richey. That's me and Curt with Carl to the left. And below I'm trying on the hat Cindy bought. She saw how good it looked on me and had to have it! LOL Backatcha, sistah, but I think I still owe you a couple more...
Here's our femme fatale with the hat she just had to have doing her impersonation of Minnie Pearl (see below). Geez, I hope you're all old enough to remember Minnie Pearl. If not, she was a woman who always left the price tag on her hats.
Cindy spotted this steeple while at the festival and thought it would be a great picture. I agree. She has a great eye for pictures, just like Diana. And, oh, if they don't have the same sense of humor and knack for storytelling. I can't wait for these two to meet. Talk about meeting your match...
A nice picture of Carl and Curt on the left with a picture of the "Polly Want a Cracker" greeter at the Crab Shack where we went for dinner. We're still on the Gulf side of Florida and the restaurant sits on the Cootee River. Carl says that "back in the day" this area was a magnet for the rich and famous. We took a drive around after dinner and I could see why. I said that I didn't want to drive along the river - I want to live on the river!
We were joined by Joe and Denise who are friends of Carl's. There was a great band there so instead of strutting our stuff in the surf, we took it to the stage. What a good time.
Thanks to Cindy's good eye, she also spotted this plate in the parking lot when we left! Isn't that awesome???? I didn't think about it at the time but that's a plate they no longer make in NY. It was on the front of the vehicle so I'll bet there's a FL plate in the back. I think we need to go back and check it out - I'll bet the patron is a regular!
And last but not least, Curt insisted on getting his picture with Cindy! ;)
