When Tom and Joe were little, their dad used to joke that they'd be the only two kids who went away to college that couldn't wait to get home to their dad's home cooking. Funny. But true. So just to be sure nothing went wrong on T'giving Day, I hired Greg and Michelle, from Cooks and Company. They prepared a fabulous meal for Curt, myself, Tom, Cindy, Marc and Diana. We had cannellini bean crostini and shrimp for hor d'oeurvres followed by the following for dinner: whole roasted buttered turkey with dijon and fresh sage, rosemary, and thyme; traditional American turkey gravy; orange, honey, and ginger cranberry sauce; roasted red garlic smashed potatoes with fennel and creme fraiche; vanilla bean scented sweet potatoes; currant, red delicious apple, and walnut toasted dressing; blistered green beans with brown butter and slivered almonds, corn and edamame hash; and jalapeno and honey corn muffins. There was pumpkin pie with ginger creme angalise for dessert. Just like the First Thanksgiving. At this house anyway seeing that the dining room table has never seen anything but Scrabble boards. I didn't have any of the turkey but Tom said it was the best turkey he's ever had. Wow. All well worth it.
We went to the firing range on Friday and yoga on Saturday morning. We also found a copy of "The Ron Clark Story" to watch with Tom before he left. He just finished his student teaching and this is a true story about a teacher in NYC. It is very inspirational. Two more classes in the spring and he graduates with his Masters in Social Studies from Syracuse University. I also learned the difference between history and social studies while he was here. It was an eye opener!
Well, it's a great day to be holed up in the house. I love rainy days and Sundays! I finished the fourth book in the Twilight series this morning and now I'm thinking about writing my Christmas cards. I'm blue though because Curt and Tommy left on the same day. All the fun and festivities for a few days and then I find myself all alone. I even had to learn how to use the tv before they left. Swear. AND the dvd player. It takes three remotes for crying out loud - not for the faint-hearted, I tell ya...

Sounds like a wonderful day. I'm going to have to consider having someone come in and cook my dinner for me. Is that our Cid crocheting?
What is the difference between social studies and history? I'm considering changing my major to history.
The dinner sounds fabulous - what a lucky group of folks to have been able to share the day with you and your family!!
Feel free to call if you need TV tips while Curt is away!!
Linda, we had such a wonderful day! The meal was spectacular. Thank you and Curt for inviting us into your family.
We love you.
