In the jungle, welcome to the jungle, watch it bring you to your knees, knees, I wanna watch you bleed.
Those are lyrics from Guns N' Roses
"Welcome to the Jungle." Tonight was Lowry Park Zoo's annual Jingle Bell Race.
It was supposed to be a run through the park and the zoo while everything was lit up except you couldn't see where you were going for half the run. It was so dark out there that people were falling and tripping all over the place. I overheard some guy complaining about the course and I yelled back, "Why do you think they make us sign waivers?" He said, "You signed yours? Not me, I need the money." That totally cracked me up.
This is normally a group training night for Team in Training. Instead of our usual meeting place we decided we would all meet for the race. So here's a few pictures of the people I've been training with over the past four months. My friend, Carmen, joined me this evening, and I'm glad she did. We ran 5 miles together last night so tonight was going to be a piece of cake. I ran the 5K without stopping to walk - first time. The time was 38:48 when we crossed the finish line but I asked Curt if I could subtract a couple of minutes because we were at the back of the starting line. He said, "Honey, you can subtract 10 minutes!" so I did. My official time is now 28:48. Above is my mentor on the left and my coach on the right. I am not using their names to protect the guilty.

Santa sneaking around...
